History

Verkhnechonskneftegaz Joint-Stock Company  (VChNG) is developing the Verkhnechonskoye oil and gas condensate field, one of the largest in Eastern Siberia, located in the Katangsky District of the Irkutsk Region, in the upper reaches of the Chona River, 1,100 km from the regional center, Irkutsk.

The field was discovered in 1978, but its pilot operation began only in 2005.

In October 2008, commercial development began at the Verkhnechonskoye oil and gas condensate field. On October 15, the first oil was delivered to the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean pipeline system (ESPO).

Priority activities of VChNG:

• Extraction of hydrocarbon raw materials and geological exploration of subsoil;

• Oil and gas field infrastructure development

• Performing survey, design, construction and installation and other types of work;

• Oil refining, production and sale of petroleum products;

• Drilling of parametric, appraisal, exploration, structural, observation and development wells for hydrocarbon raw materials, water;

In addition to the commercial operation of the Verkhnechonskoye oil and gas condensate field, VChNG carries out operator functions on 12 licensed sites of Rosneft located in the Irkutsk Region and the Krasnoyarsk Territory, with a total area of 45,256.80 square km.

Works aimed exploration, appraisal and preparation for the development of greenfields are actively being carried out. To date, pilot operation of the wells of Severo-Danilovskylicensed site has been started.

The oil producing company is expected to reach its full capacity, 7 million 800 thousand tons of oil per year (58, 5 million barrels), in 2014.
